Mohamed Salar, MD

Dr. Mohamed Salar is a board-eligible orthopedic spine surgeon at MSU Health Care Sports Medicine. Dr. Salar received his doctorate of medicine from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Florida in Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Salar was selected and trained at the world-renowned Texas Back Institute in Plano, Texas in their combined orthopedic and neurosurgery spine fellowship.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Salar serves as assistant professor of orthopedics in Michigan State University Colleges of Human & Osteopathic Medicine, furthering his research in fracture care and orthopedic trauma. Dr. Salar has contributed many publications regarding radiation exposure in spine surgery and pediatric patients. In fellowship, he completed a retrospective study into the safety of anterior-lumbar interbody fusion. Further, he has published several papers that emphasizes the importance of temporary external fixation and infection risk. 

Dr. Salar has professional memberships with the North American Spine Society and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Additionally, Dr. Salar is a bilingual clinician fluent in both English and Arabic.
