Micah Lissy, MD, Interim Chairperson

Micah Lissy, MD has a master's degrees in physical therapy from Ithaca College, and is certified as an athletic trainer and strength coach. He spent time working in all three of these professions with Professional, Olympic and Recreational athletes before pursuing his medical degree. He draws on all of these experiences when providing patient care and lecturing.

Dr. Lissy received his medical degree from the Sackler School of Medicine, New York Program and completed an internship and a residency in orthopedics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine-Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx.

During his Orthopedic Sports Fellowship at Detroit Medical Center, he provided sports medicine care to members of the MLB's Detroit Tigers, the NBA's Detroit Pistons and the NHL's Red Wings professional sports teams. Currently he is team physician for the MSU Spartans. In addition to participating as a player, Dr. Lissy has coached several teams, even touring Europe as the head coach of The Israeli National Women’s Rugby Team.

Dr. Lissy specializes in arthroscopic surgeries of the ankle, knee, hip, elbow and shoulder.  He performs complex and revision reconstruction of ligaments, meniscus and cartilage.  In addition to being board certified in Orthopaedics, Dr. Lissy has the subspecialty certification in Sports Medicine from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
